About

Who Am I?

My name is Adam and I am a twenty-something recent college graduate located in the DC area. I received my bachelor’s degree in finance from a fairly small school in central Pennsylvania. While there, I took several financial planning and tax courses. Those classes made me become very interested in a financial planning career so after graduation, I decided to venture out and find a job in that field. Having no luck finding a job (at least one I would feel proud of), I decided to head to graduate school in Texas.

Moving to Texas for graduate school was a large, emotional move for me. I had never lived anywhere besides rural (and I mean rural) Pennsylvania. I was also leaving my girlfriend of 7 years (at the time) behind. We still saw each other frequently (thanks to Skype) and visited each other every few months. Fortunately, graduate school only took me a year and a half and I am now the proud owner of a master’s degree in financial planning.

While in graduate school my girlfriend and I were engaged (great story actually). We are set to be married this coming July and are currently living on the outskirts of DC in a small apartment community.

Why Did I Start This Blog?

I started The Simple Tax because I enjoy taxes. That was simple, right? It’s hard to imagine anyone who really enjoys taxes, but we are out there. I particularly like speaking to people about their individual taxes as it opens up many opportunities to assist them with getting the refund that they deserve and are entitled to based on IRS laws. This blog is also run to help simplify the tax code. There is no one in the world that knows everything about the tax code but I hope to help you better understand income taxes and how to minimize them.

I also hope to help individuals with very basic returns. I get very frustrated seeing individuals pay around $100 to have their VERY simple returns filed. If you fall into this category, I hope to educate you in a way that you feel comfortable filing your own return.

Do I Have Any Other Blogs?

I do! Since I also enjoy financial planning, I run another blog titled Your Money Relationship. That blog allows me to write about other areas that affect individuals financially. On that blog I write about insurance, debt, careers, college funding, etc. Head over there and check it out! I will occasionally link posts between the two sites in order to broaden your knowledge of personal finance. Be sure to click on the links to the site so you get the whole picture!
